Cosimo Durante is Full Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Rome Sapienza, Rome, Italy, where he received his MD, residency and PhD training in Endocrinology and Metabolism. His research interests are focused on thyroid tumors management, including both benign and malignant neoplasms. He has demonstrated record of successful and productive research projects to more personalized thyroid nodule and thyroid cancer follow-up strategies. On this horizon there is his contribution in creating the web-based database of the Italian Thyroid Cancer Observatory (ITCO), which was established to collect real-world data on thyroid cancer management in a prospective and consecutive series of newly diagnosed patients. He was member of the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Task Force for the preparation of the 2019 and 2022 ESMO clinical practice guidelines on thyroid cancer. He is chair and member of the European Thyroid Association (ETA) and American Thyroid Association (ATA) Task Force, respectively, for the preparation of the thyroid nodule management guidelines.
