FRANCESCA COPERCHINI

Dr. Francesca Coperchini is a biologist specializing in clinical pathology. Since 2010, she has been making significant contributions at the Laboratory for the Study of Endocrine Disruptors at ICS Maugeri IRCCS in Pavia, and she currently serves as a researcher at the University of Pavia.
Her research is focused on understanding the effects of various endocrine disruptors on thyroid cells in vitro, specifically human thyroid cells in primary culture. She has extensively studied perfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS), documenting their potentially harmful effects on thyroid cells in several influential scientific publications. In addition to PFAS, she has rigorously evaluated the impact of pesticides, including glyphosate, and UV filters on thyroid cells in vitro. Furthermore, Francesca is at the forefront of research on the thyroid tumor microenvironment, specifically exploring the modulation of pro- and anti-tumorigenic cytokines.
