Graduated in Medicine from Escola Bahiana de Medicina in 1997. Completed residency in Internal Medicine (1998-2000) and Endocrinology (2000-2002) at Hospital de Clínicas, Federal University of Paraná. Fellowship at the Thyroid Unit of the University of Chicago, completed in 2004. PhD in Endocrinology from UNIFESP, completed in 2007. Postdoctoral research in Molecular Biology at Université Sorbonne, Paris, completed in 2010. Professor at the Federal University of Bahia since 2011. Postdoctoral research in Endocrine Oncology at Institute Gustave Roussy, Paris, completed in 2017. Visiting Professor at the Department of Endocrine Neoplasia, MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas, USA (2024).
