Prof. Sugitani is the Chairman of the Department of Endocrine Surgery at Nippon Medical School Graduate School of Medicine in Tokyo, Japan. He earned his Medical Doctor degree from the University of Tokyo in 1989 and worked at the Division of Head & Neck, Cancer Institute Hospital, from 1994 to 2013. He is an active member of several international and national endocrine and thyroid associations, including IAES, AAES, ATA, AsAES, AOTA, JAES, and JTA. His research focuses on thyroid cancer, particularly active surveillance of low-risk papillary microcarcinoma, risk stratification of papillary thyroid carcinoma, and clinical trials for anaplastic thyroid carcinoma.
