Dr. Lea Maciel holds a Medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto at the University of São Paulo (USP) (1975), a Master's degree in Medicine (1983), a PhD in Medicine (1986), and a Habilitation in Endocrinology (2008) from the same institution. She is currently the coordinator of the Neonatal Screening Program at the Hospital das Clínicas of the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto-USP and an Associate Professor at the same university. Dr. Maciel is also a member of the Radioprotection Core at the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto-USP. Her expertise includes Endocrinology, with a focus on neonatal screening, hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, medullary and differentiated thyroid cancer, and the Reduced Sensitivity to Thyroid Hormone Syndrome.
