MONICA DENTICE

Monica Dentice is an Associate Professor in the Department of Clinical Medicine and Surgery at the University of Naples "Federico II." Her research focuses on the molecular mechanisms regulated by thyroid hormone (TH) transcriptional signatures in pathophysiological processes, specifically in the skin, heart, growth plate, and skeletal muscle. Her work has pioneered the concept that intracellular TH metabolism, in addition to the systemic supply of TH, plays a critical role in tumor progression. More recently, her studies have centered on the role of TH signaling in the tumor microenvironment, particularly on the metabolic pathways regulated by TH and steroid hormones, and their involvement in cancer progression and metastasis. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School (2003-2005) and at the University of Naples "Federico II" (2005-2015), where she was promoted to Assistant Professor in 2016 and Associate Professor in 2017.
