Rafael Selbach Scheffel is an Adjunct Professor at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) and the Thyroid Unit at Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre (HCPA). A specialist in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, he holds a Ph.D. in Endocrinology from UFRGS and is certified by the Brazilian Society of Endocrinology and Metabolism (SBEM). He has held leadership roles, including President of SBEM-RS (2019-2022) and Executive Committee Member of the Latin-American Thyroid Society (2017-2020). Since 2010, he has been part of Dr. Ana Luiza Maia's thyroid research group, focusing on thyroid cancer and hyperthyroidism, and serves as a preceptor for endocrinology and internal medicine residency programs at HCPA.
