Dr. Rossella Elisei is the Director of the Endocrine Unit 2 at the University Hospital of Pisa. She is also the President of the Italian Thyroid Association (AIT). She is an expert clinician mainly involved in the management of thyroid cancer patients. She is also an expert researcher especially in the field of translational research which combines basic research with clinical research, as demonstrated by the numerous scientific works (>300) published in international journals. Dr. Elisei received numerous international awards: the Light of Life Foundation for the best thyroid cancer researcher of 2011, the 2018 European Thyroid Association award as a distinguished scientist in the Thyroid research field, the JCEM award for the best clinical paper 2006, 2012, 2015 and 2016, the 2021 British Thyroid Association award "George Murray" lecture for the fundamental contributions to the advancement of knowledge in the field of pathophysiology and therapy of thyroid disease. In 2020 she has been awarded by the President of the Italian Republic of the title "Commendatore" in recognition of scientific merit in thyroid cancer research.
