EDUARDO PRETELL

Dr. Eduardo Pretell Zárate is a renowned Peruvian physician, endocrinologist, researcher, and professor. He earned his medical degree from the National University of San Marcos and completed postgraduate studies at Harvard Medical School. A pioneer in the prevention of iodine deficiency disorders, he played a key role in Peru's National Program for the Control of Endemic Goiter and Cretinism. He served as Peru's Minister of Health (2000-2001) and held leadership roles in medical societies, including the Latin American Thyroid Society. His contributions to medicine and public health have earned him prestigious awards, including the Reina Sofía Award.
