SABINE COSTAGLIOLA

Sabine Costagliola is Research Director at FNRS and holds the position of Director at IRIBHM-JE Dumont, Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) in Belgium. She holds a Ph.D. in Immunology from Marseille, France, and another Ph.D. in Biomedical Science from ULB, Brussels, Belgium.
As member of the Royal Belgian Academy of Medicine, Sabine Costagliola has been recognized with numerous international awards for her outstanding contributions to thyroid and endocrine research. Her work has been published extensively in high-impact journals, with a record of 137 publications and an H-Index of 54.
Sabine Costagliola's research focuses on unraveling the intricate molecular signaling mechanisms and gene networks that govern thyroid autoimmunity and thyroid function and organogenesis. Her innovative approach involves the use of diverse experimental models, including Zebrafish and organoids. A landmark achievement of her team was the development of the first models for in vitro generation of functional thyroid tissue from mouse and human embryonic stem cells, marking a significant breakthrough in the field.
